This is a community page where WikIT hopes to help a blind person who asked on Twitter about products to help him in a course.  He "will need to do many mind maps for a course" and says, and "do you know anything on Pictorial Guides?? it's another thing i need to use in this economics course. thanks!"

This is a challenge, need I say, because mapping of any sort is intensely visual.  It is my hope that the mapping community can come together to help this person, and if we are successful, provide a future reference to others.

If you can add your expertise to this page, please create an account (sorry, too many spammers when WikIT allowed anonymous editing), and jump in and edit.  If you're not familiar with wiki editing (as you can see this is based on the same software as Wikipedia) please tweet @roygrubb and I will arrange for any information you can send me to be added.

I know something about mind mapping software but am completely ignorant about accessibility options, so I will not write any more, other than to ask all to contribute their knowledge, or point this out to anyone they know with experience in this field.

Policies cover the following:

  • acceptable content,
  • linking and promotional material,
  • copyright of work added,
  • copying WikIT material for use elsewhere.

Content[edit]

The purpose of WikIT is to provide a resource to help in taming the torrent of information that knowledge workers have to deal with now. All entries that contribute to achieving that purpose in a clear and factual way that follows the policies below are welcome.

This is not Wikipedia.

But that does not mean it’s a site for shameless self-promotion – it is not

Policy on linking and promotional entries[edit]

If you have a useful commercial product or service related directly to one of the topics covered in WikIT…

You may:

  • Describe the product or service in neutral terms: Above all, be factual!
  • Make one link to a relevant page

You may not:

  • Add hype, links to pure marketing sites or to spam pages.
  • Add multiple links (unless there is a very good and obvious reason).
  • Link to “squeeze” pages.
  • Add descriptions of mind or concept mapping software – this seems pointless when there is already a site that covers this very extensively and in a neutral way at mind-mapping.org. An exception to this is when a particular kind of mind mapping software offers something that others do not and you want to describe how to use such a feature.

Changes or entries that do not comply with the above will be reversed out promptly.

Policy on copyright[edit]

Your contributions[edit]

DO NOT SUBMIT COPYRIGHTED WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE COPYRIGHT OWNER!

This applies to images as well – if you submit images, they should either be ones you created yourself, or you should have written permission from the copyright holder.

Copying from WikIT[edit]
